FutureDash Announces Support for Google PowerMeter

FutureDash Corp. announced recently today that GreenDashTM, a new software product designed to allow manufacturers of consumer networking and electronics equipment to quickly and easily add real-time energy monitoring capabilities to their products, now integrates with Google PowerMeter using the newly announced Google PowerMeter API.
"Integration with PowerMeter is a natural progression that will give our partners a richer set of features and a larger marketing opportunity for their products. GreenDash homeowners will also benefit from increased options as to where, when and how their energy consumption data is made available to them" said Kevin Strong, CEO. "FutureDash believes that homeowners everywhere should have freedom of choice to access, collate and display their own energy usage data in the most appropriate way possible to enable them to personally take control."
The GreenDash server is designed to act as an energy monitoring hub, collecting data in real-time from the smart meter and other compatible smart energy devices around the home. GreenDash then relays it in real-time to its own personal energy dashboard clients via the user's local area network (LAN) or the Internet. This enables the homeowner to benefit from near real time awareness of changes in their energy consumption and to take appropriate action to reduce their energy usage.
This data can then also be optionally collected, stored and periodically forwarded to Google PowerMeter using the recently announced PowerMeter API, and this time-lapsed data viewed using the standard PowerMeter user interface.
GreenDash's own customizable personal energy client dashboards are designed to be viewed at home or away on a web browser or other compatible client hardware such as a smartphone, PDA, notebook, connected TV or set-top box without the need to purchase or support a new dedicated display device.
To ensure total control of energy consumption, the homeowner can also program GreenDash with real-time alerts, for example if energy usage exceeds a set threshold or cost budget. Alerts can optionally be sent by email, text, instant messaging or Twitter to facilitate increased control of energy usage.
Hardware OEMs and manufacturers of consumer electronics, networking and broadband residential gateway devices can bundle GreenDash server software capabilities onto their current or planned product lines, quickly adding energy monitoring capabilities without the overhead of in-house software development and gaining instant integration with Google PowerMeter. Compatible server devices include routers, gateways, network attached storage (NAS), media servers, IPTVs and set-top boxes.
Evaluation samples compatible with ZigBee Smart Energy Profile devices, and preloaded with GreenDash software, are available for qualified partners to use in smart grid trials and pilots.
