NRG Energy and Reliant to Provide Over $2 Million in Relief for Hurricane Harvey
August 31, 2017

As Hurricane Harvey emergency response continues across Texas and Louisiana, NRG Energy and its subsidiary Reliant today announced broad preliminary efforts to assist millions of Texans impacted by devastating rains, floods and winds. NRG and Reliant will provide more than $2 million of disaster relief resources, comprised of $1 million in cash donations, as well as in-kind relief efforts valued at more than $1 million in community support and customer assistance. The funding goes toward charitable contributions including a relief fund for impacted employees, deploying disaster-response power generation solutions to assist first responders, providing Houstonians backup power and phone chargers, and offering enrollment and billing assistance to impacted customers.

Schneider Electric is Contracted To Supply Back Up Power For 3200 Ah Lithium Iron Battery For California Solar Project

This project utilizes Schneider's Conext XW+ inverters in a system that will provide a residence with 61.2kW of continuous backup power and 166kW-hours of total energy storage capacity. The 61.2kW Conext XW+ Multi-cluster consists of nine Conext XW+6848 inverter/chargers configured to 120/208V 3-phase, which happens to be the same as the utility feeder for this 45,000 square foot residence.

Equinix to Install Largest Deployment of Fuel Cells for the Colocation Data Center Industry

Equinix, a global interconnection and data center company, has announced the signing of a 15-year Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) between a subsidiary of Southern Company and Equinix in which Bloom Energy fuel cells will be installed at 12 International Business Exchange (IBX) data centers in the U.S. The project will provide a total capacity of more than 37 megawatts of power with a phased installation that begins in late 2017 through 2019.
