Session Abstract
9:00 - 9:30 am EDT
The Role Of Meter Data Management and Data Analytics In The Emerging Smart Grid
The utility industry is undergoing significant changes driven by regulatory, environmental and social factors. Smart grid technologies are enabling utilities to operate more efficiently and effectively by improving supply, delivery and consumption management capabilities. These technologies require significant capital investment and planning to achieve the smart grid vision and comply with regulatory requirements related to funding and implementation standards. In the Utility of the Future, IT/ Operational systems will be tightly integrated in a much more complex manner than they are today. This will both facilitate the harvesting of data into analytics, metrics, and KPIs; and create hurdles for managing and mapping the data to create real business value.
This presentation will focus on the role of meter data management and data analytics in managing and transforming the significant new data capabilities brought about by smart grid efforts to develop data analytics and business intelligence.
Note: For quality purposes, this presentation was pre-recorded on April 19, 2012 for initial broadcast during
this V-Summit. The live Q&A discussion on April 26 will begin at 9:25 am EDT and go for approximately 15 minutes.
